Acceptable Use Policy

What you may distribute and how you must conduct yourself on the platform Last updated: May 2026 Published at: crewport.io/legal/aup Governing law: State of California, United States

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines what you may and may not distribute, and how you must conduct yourself on the CREWPORT platform. It applies to all content submitted through CREWPORT, all uses of the platform, and all interactions with CREWPORT's systems.

This AUP is incorporated into and forms part of the Terms of Service and your Music Distribution Agreement. Technical submission requirements — audio formats, metadata specifications, artwork dimensions, and lead times — are set out separately in the Content Submission Guidelines.

Violations of this AUP may result in content removal, account suspension or termination, withholding of royalties pending investigation, referral to law enforcement, or legal action. The specific consequences for each violation type are set out in Section 7.

1. Purpose

CREWPORT is a professional music distribution platform. This AUP exists to protect the integrity of the platform, the rights of copyright holders, the interests of all users, and CREWPORT's relationships with digital service providers (DSPs). We are committed to maintaining a platform that is fair, legally compliant, and safe for artists worldwide.

2. Content You May Distribute

You may distribute through CREWPORT any original music and associated content for which you own or control all necessary rights, including:

3. Prohibited Content

3.2 Content Subject to Review

The following content requires review or additional documentation before distribution.

Content typeCREWPORT's approach
Explicit language or adult themes Must be accurately labeled as Explicit. Failure to label is a policy violation and may result in removal from DSPs that do not accept unlabeled explicit content.
Cover songs Distribution is paused pending proof of a valid mechanical license. Unlicensed covers cannot be distributed.
Content containing samples All samples must be cleared. Documentation of sample clearance must be provided upon request.
Content depicting or using the voice, likeness, or persona of a real person May require written release or consent documentation depending on how the person is depicted.
Political or religious content Permitted if it does not incite hatred or violence. Subject to DSP-specific content policies, which vary by platform.
Content flagged by a DSP as policy-violating CREWPORT will notify the client and work toward resolution. Repeated flags may result in distribution restrictions.

3.3 Rights and Clearances

Before submitting any release, you are responsible for confirming that:

CREWPORT does not verify rights clearances prior to distribution. Your warranties under the Music Distribution Agreement cover these obligations. If a valid DMCA notice is received, CREWPORT will act per the DMCA Policy.

4. AI-Generated and AI-Assisted Content

CREWPORT permits distribution of AI-generated and AI-assisted content subject to the following rules.

RequirementDetails
Disclosure You must accurately disclose AI-generated vocals, instrumentation, artwork, or lyrics where required by CREWPORT, DSP policy, applicable law, or industry standards. Required metadata labels must be applied at submission.
Voice clones and synthetic performances You may not distribute an AI-generated voice clone, synthetic performance, deepfake, or impersonation of any identifiable real person — living or deceased — without that person's explicit written consent.
Third-party training data You represent that your AI-generated content does not unlawfully incorporate copyrighted materials, performances, or likenesses of third parties as a result of the AI model's training process. If uncertain, obtain legal advice before submission.
Commercial use rights You represent that the AI tool(s) used to generate or assist with your content permit commercial use and distribution. You are responsible for reviewing and complying with the license terms of any AI tool used in creating content submitted to CREWPORT. CREWPORT may request documentation of the applicable AI tool's commercial license terms.
Evolving DSP requirements AI disclosure requirements are evolving rapidly. CREWPORT may update its AI content policies at any time in response to DSP policy changes, applicable law, or industry standards. Updates will be communicated through the Platform.
DSP acceptance DSP policies on AI content vary and may change without notice. CREWPORT does not guarantee that AI-generated content will be accepted, retained, or monetized by any specific DSP.

5. Platform Conduct

5.1 Streaming Integrity

The integrity of streaming data is fundamental to fair royalty distribution. The following are strictly prohibited:

DSPs actively detect and reverse artificial streaming. If a DSP reverses royalties due to detected artificial activity on your releases, CREWPORT may recover those reversed royalties from your account and may suspend or terminate your account depending on the severity, evidence, DSP requirements, and applicable contractual terms. This applies regardless of whether you directly purchased the activity or a third party acted on your behalf.
